 Press Release from PIA (9/6/10):

 Guidelines for UK

Relief Goods can only be sent Free on PIA to any recognized/registered NGO or Charity in Pakistan. Individuals and persons can not take delivery of relief goods transported free by PIA.

Donors may opt for any Charity or NGO of their trust or they can simply send it in the name of “PIA Flood Relief”. PIA will hand them over to Pak Army or Red Cross or NDMA etc for onward trucking and distribution amongst the flood victims.

Note 1:
Shipments in the name of NGO/Charity will be automatically handed over to Army/NDMA by PIA without the consent of Consignee if not collected within 02 working days of arrival at destination as PIA Warehouses can not house them for longer times due to huge inflow of relief goods from all over the world.

Individuals can send only ready to eat non-perishable food stuff (1st Dispatch Priority) packed in 15”X15”X12” card board boxes as per PIA guidelines which can be found on our website www.piac.com.pk.

Note 2:
Box size and food items are for guidance purpose only. Box size and contents may vary a bit. These boxes can be purchased from Self-Storage/Post Offices/Stationary shops. PIA is not providing these boxes.  However, Charities and NGOs may send following items as well but these will be moved in following order of priority.
  • Medicines/Life saving drugs/Mosquito repellent lotions etc– 1st Despatch Priority as are of Food.
  • Blankets/Tents/Mosquito Nets.
  • Cloths (New only – No used cloths) - Last Despatch Priority.

For weights up to 100 kg - 200 kg, no prior booking is required. These limited quantities may be brought to PIA without prior space reservation.

For more than 200 kg, first please get the Booking by e-mailing full info. like no. of boxes, total weight, name of Consignee & destination to darren.bossler@uk.euro-cargo.com, ops@uk.euro-cargo.com, asmat.goraya@uk.euro-cargo.com, Tel. 0208 7574772 Cell: 0777 8969882 / 0791 2310066), then deliver them on date as per given advice.

It is advisable to deliver higher weights (in excess of 1000 kg, for instance) not 48 hours/02 days before the booked flight date as PIA Warehouses are running at their full space capacities due to huge quantities of relief goods on hand. Donors of these large quantities are requested to bring goods according to the flight date advised to them to avoid likelihood of second trip to PIA Warehouse due to our overcrowded position.

 Press Release (updated 9/3/10):

An Update:  PIA Life Box Fakhr-E-Alam’ Food Packages

Due to your overwhelming support, our warehouses in New York, Chicago, and Toronto are FULL!!!  Words can’t express how grateful we are for your support. We asked for your help and you responded!

Therefore, we ask that you HOLD all shipments/drop-offs for the next 10 days.  However, this will vary depending on the location of the warehouse.  PIA has been working around the clock, to take as much cargo as possible.   Please do not send ‘Life Box’ food packages until further notice.

Here's the latest information from PIA:
- FOOD and WATERAt the moment, in view of the dire need of food items, PIA has accorded the
priority to Life Boxes as specified on its website www.piac.com.pkPIA is shipping food and water ONLY at this time.
- MEDICATIONS:  Please stay tuned.  We will let you know when PIA starts taking medications.
- TENTS:  Please stay tuned.  We will let you know when PIA starts taking tents.
- CLOTHES:  PIA is not accepting clothes at this time.  Please stay tuned and we will let you know when they start shipping clothing.  (Also, please be conscious about the quality of donations you send.  Please do not send used or torn clothing.  Clothing builds character and confidence --- so let’s donate items that will make the flood victims feel good about themselves, despite the turmoil around them.)

In the coming months, Pakistan will definitely need medications, tents and clothing.  We will keep you posted as soon as PIA starts accepting the above items.  Your patience is greatly appreciated!  Thank you for opening your hearts for Pakistan, in this difficult time.
