COPAA & PAK DAY LA  $100,000  RELIEF EFFORT
FOR
PAKISTAN
($80,000 thousand dollars raised to date and $20,000 to go)

We all know that recent floods in Pakistan have not only been the deadliest but have caused the most devastation in Pakistan’s history.  According to recent estimates of U.N., people suffering from massive floods could exceed 20 million which is more than the combined total of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

We all feel the pain of our fellow Pakistanis and we all want to help but we want to make sure that our aid gets to the affected people ASAP.  With this objective in mind, we the Board Members of COPAA and flood relief project Co-Chairs (Ismail KeeKeeBhai and Zubair Rawda) and the Organizing Committee Members of Pak Day Los Angeles (YKKB, Sameer Moosani, and Majeed Sheikh) have organized relief efforts for the flood victims.  COPAA and the Organizing Committee Members of Pak Day Los Angeles will raise cash donations to buy the much needed food and supplies and have these goods distributed to the affected people under the watch and supervision of Project and Distribution Coordinator, YKKB

COPAA – Council of Pakistan American Affairs is a well recognized National Organization known for its community and relief work for Pakistan and is also a 501c 3 organization; and donations to COPAA are tax deductible.  The Organizing Committee Members of Pak Day Los Angeles has been organizing Pakistan Day LA for the last four years under United For Pakistan Independence Day (UFPID), and have untarnished reputation with its donors and the community.  COPAA and Pak Day LA are collaborating to collect the much needed funds for victims of 2010 devastating floods.

We thank, Alhum Du Lillah, COPAA Board of Directors Ismail KeeKeeBhai, Zubair Rawda and Member of  Pak Day LA, YKKB who have already raised $80,000 from friends, family members, and their community at King Fahad Mosque in Culver City.

Our Goal Is To Raise a Minimum of $100,000

COPAA and Pak Day LA directors are in contact with the GHQ and other relief agencies on the ground to arrange for ready to eat halal food, tents, raw food, and other items for those in need.  COPAA has secured a large shipment of rice and Insha’Allah, on behalf of COPAA, YKKB will arrive in Pakistan, on his own expense, to oversee the distribution of goods to the needy people under his own supervision.

APPEAL
We urge you to please support us in this cause. It is our pledge that every dollar of your donation will be used towards providing relief to the right person and for the right cause; as we don’t have any administrative costs and all of our director’s work on a voluntary basis.

The United Nations has now estimated that Pakistan will need billions of dollars to recover from its worst floods in 80 years - further straining a country already dependent on foreign aid to prop up its economy. Over 60,000 troops are involved in flood relief operations trying to assist nearly 14 million people who are now affected by the flooding. The U.N. has just launched an appeal for $459 million in immediate aid.

The Organizing Committee of PAK DAY LA has planned to work together with the community to provide relief efforts and respond to the catastrophe in Pakistan. The floods have left many people homeless in this month of Ramadhan. We need your support now more than ever to help provide clean water, food, medicine and tents to our affected brothers and sisters in Pakistan.

PAK DAY LA organizing committee members are listed below with their contact numbers. Please feel free to contact them to inquire about how you can help with the relief and volunteering efforts.
